演講摘要:

Possible avenues for cost reduction of Si photovoltaics are reviewed. Driving forces in this process are the use of less grams of Si per Wp and the reduction of the manufacturing cost. A possible crystalline Si PV roadmap as viewed by IMEC is discussed. Four important developments are treated in more detail. First the industrial type i-PERC cell is described. Secondly ultra thin (<40 µm) crystalline cells are introduced as the possible industrial standard by 2020. In the third place epitaxial thin film Si solar cells are discussed as a more disruptive technology that may result in the long run in a fourth type of cell: the thin film crystalline Si solar cell on glass or ceramic substrates.

Also the work done at IMEC in organic PV is reviewed. The potential benefits of the use of nanotechnology to obtain more efficient organic solar cells is discussed.

Finally the research strategy of IMEC in the area of concentrator photovoltaics, emphasizing mechanically stacking of cells, is presented.
